The Surprising Comics Universe

Here are some of the characters who make up the Surprising Comics universe.  More to come!

American Guard- Appearances: Suddenly LandMark #1 from LandMark Comics. The Leaf #1 from Red Leaf Comics.  Surprising Theater #5 from Surprising Comics. 

Bio- When 11 year-old Joseph Washington saw a woman about to be shot during a robbery, he stepped between the shooter and intended victim, taking the bullet for her.  The bullet had been meant for Leona Lynn, a powerful Senator.

As Joseph lay dying in the hospital, Ms. Lynn stepped in, ordering an experimental drug be used to save Joseph's life.  The last-ditch measure did, indeed, save Joseph's life, and augmented his already growing strength and speed, eventually giving him the strength of ten men and making him twice as fast as a normal man.  Now grown and trained to fight in multiple disciplines, he wages a one man war on those who would perpetrate evil in the United States Of America as The American Guard.

Bad News- Appearances: Surprising Theater #1 from Surprising Comics.
Bio- A gang leader in Phoenix, AZ, Bad News has acquired the means for flight, and has several other gang members of his gang who also fly.

Brick- Appearances: Surprising Theater #2 from Surprising Comics.
A bad guy who appears to be made of... brick.  Not much is known of him, though he has robbed a bank and been taken down by Skyscraper after that event. 

Depthon Son Of The Ocean- Appearances: Surprising Theater #2 from Surprising Comics.
The ocean is the only father he's ever known.  A man who gained superabilities while as a teen he was stranded on an island in the Bermuda Triangle, he's made saving the environment his life's mission.

Laughingstock- Appearances: The Leaf #2 from Red Leaf Comics.  (Coming in January 2011.)
A villain roaming through the Surprising Comics universe, Laughingstock has shown he can take human life without regret.  Bitter about a prison term he was serving for his crimes, he broke out of prison and has an evil trick or two up his sleeve.   




High-Flyin' Redbird- Appearances: Still to come.
Having dedicated his entire life to becoming a superhero, he just didn't know it would take him 35 years to develop gear allowing him to fly.  Now 45 years old, is he too old to be a hero?

Skyscraper- Appearances: Surprising Theater #1 from Surprising Comics.  Surprising Theater #2 from Surprising Comics.
Surprising Theater #4 from Surprising Comics.
Bio- Chad Johnston's police officer father designed a suit of armor to fight what he saw as an upcoming crime wave in Phoenix, Arizona to be led by the infamous gang leader appropriately named Bad News.  The Senior Mr. Johnston had intel leading him to believe Bad News had developed a method by which his gang members would soon be flying through the skies of Phoenix.  When his father was killed in the line of duty before being able to use the armor, Chad donned the armor himself, becoming the superhero called Skyscraper!
