We have accomplished something that sets us apart. I know we’re only a small independent publisher that strives for excellence and a voice, but we’ve really hit a goal.

Issue # 2 shipped June 18^th and is now in our hands. This makes us a comic book company and NOT a one hit wonder. All of the creators at Surprising Comics, from the writers, artists, letterers, and the editor have put ourselves into this issue to make it the very best we can –and it succeeds! There are five stories that challenge the mind and represent a variety of genres and ideas. From a super hero story, to the war front of occupied France, to the wilds of North America –this issue succeeds.

We enlisted a new cover artist and varied our pencils with several artists to fill the multiple worlds for our characters. It is a model we plan to continue. Since we have started, other creators have approached Surprising Comics and asked to contribute.

It’s infectious. Creating is a disease –once you get it, it takes you over.

Mark F Davis started this company with a bucket full of ideas and enough energy to jump-start a 1973 Chevy van. I was overcome with his enthusiasm and began churning ideas and characters as well. Brad Eastburn worked endless hours to pencil and tone his Modern Leaf pages. Then to Stuart Berryhill. You get the picture.

Where this leads us is where we began –new ideas with boundless energy. Mark is hard at work planning issue #4 and has thoughts for issue #5. He was correct when he said that his company would “surprise you”. The one hit wonder is a distant memory. We have plans for a trade paperback, special issues of select characters, and even new properties that will surprise and delight you.

Surprising Comics is here to stay; how can it not –there are too many creators full of energy.
